Four Things To Do This Labor Day Weekend
+ another PVD Wordle, and a Labor Day PSA
Good morning, Providence. This is PVD Current, the newsletter that’s like finding a perfectly ripe avocado right when you need it for guacamole.

Today’s Cafe Review ☕️
Let’s get to it.

Where I Tried: Rise 'n Shine Coffee Bar (97 Holden St, Providence, RI 02908)
What I ordered: Iced mocha with almond milk + chocolate croissant
What it cost: $13.32
Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️
This is the order I always get when doing these reviews. I like to keep it consistent to keep the reviews fair. Iced mocha + chocolate croissant = go-to order.
I’ve seen this place on social media a lot recently so decided I should try it out. I really liked the inside and they even have some seating in the back garden which is very nice. The croissant was really good and the coffee was good. The only reason this place is 3 stars instead of 4 is the price. For the price, I think I could go find a great coffee elsewhere. They have a bunch of other drinks so I would still recommend trying a croissant and seeing what else is on their menu.

📢 LABOR DAY PSA❗️
In observance of Labor Day, all city buildings will be closed on Monday, September 2, and trash collection will operate on a one-day delay. Enjoy the day off everyone! I will still send out an issue on Monday but expect it to be shorter than usual. Also, please check out the very bottom of this email, I included a poll asking how you liked this edition.

🍋 Mr. Lemon Place
Last night, on August 29th, the city of Providence held a street naming ceremony. The corner of Appian and Hawkins Street will now be known as Mr. Lemon Place. Mr. Lemon is a great frozen lemonade spot I recommend everyone check out in Providence. The business has been open since June 21, 1974. Although both founders of the business have passed, their children still run the business.
