Providence’s Nightlife Brings in Nearly $1B Annually 🌙

Providence’s nightlife is a major economic force, generating nearly $1 billion annually and supporting 7,900 jobs across bars, restaurants, clubs, and performance venues. Mayor Brett Smiley unveiled a new initiative to enhance safety, transportation, and sustainability, including a 50% discount on scooter and bike rides for nightlife workers through a partnership with Spin. While the sector thrives, challenges like rising business costs, noise complaints, and public safety concerns remain. Smiley emphasized the city's commitment to balancing nightlife with neighborhood needs, investing in soundproofing measures, and supporting businesses to ensure Providence continues to be a vibrant cultural hub. Check out the report here.
Miriam Hospital Among Nation’s Best 🏥

The Miriam Hospital in Providence has been named one of America’s 50 Best Hospitals by Healthgrades for the second year in a row, placing it in the top 5% of hospitals nationwide. Healthgrades evaluates hospitals based on patient outcomes across more than 30 common procedures and conditions, helping consumers choose high-quality care. The rankings highlight the importance of hospital performance, with data showing that if all hospitals met the standards of the top 250, over 174,000 lives could be saved. Miriam Hospital’s continued excellence reflects its commitment to top-tier clinical care in Rhode Island.
RI Leaders Push for $600M in Federal Funding 🚧
Rhode Island’s congressional delegation is urging the Office of Management and Budget to release over $600 million in federal grants for key transportation projects. Senators Jack Reed and Sheldon Whitehouse, along with Representatives Seth Magaziner and Gabe Amo, sent a letter asking for confirmation that previously approved funding will be delivered. The funds include $221 million for the Washington Bridge and $250 million for bridges along I-95—critical projects that have already passed competitive review. Lawmakers are pressing for a quick resolution to keep these infrastructure improvements on track.
