Zillow ranks Providence as the third-hottest major housing market for 2025, with home prices projected to grow 3.4%. Affordability and proximity to pricier metros like Boston and NYC are key drivers. Providence held the No. 2 spot last year, with Buffalo, NY topping the list again. Nationwide, Zillow predicts steady price growth, recovering inventory, and challenges from affordability and mortgage rates. Hartford, ranked fourth, leads the top five with a 4.2% price growth forecast
❄️ Providence Opens Emergency Warming Center
Source: Lee McDaniel
Facing freezing temperatures, Providence City Councilors Justin Roias and Miguel Sanchez opened City Hall’s Council Chamber as an emergency warming center. Over 30 people sought refuge Tuesday night, supported by volunteers and donations of food, blankets, and coffee. The center aims to address shelter shortages and prevent further tragedies among the unhoused population. “Our goal is to keep people alive,” said Roias. Open until 7 a.m. today, the center’s future availability will be determined daily. Official warming centers across the city also remain open for assistance.
