Key Safety Features for a Better Experience

Several key safety features have been implemented to ensure the path is both safe and accessible for all users:

  • High Intensity Activated Crosswalk (HAWK) Beacon: This signal system provides a safer way for pedestrians to cross the street, ensuring they can cross at key points with increased visibility for drivers. The HAWK beacon is activated by pedestrians and is designed to make crossing quicker and safer.

  • High-Performance LED Lighting: To improve visibility, especially during nighttime, the shared-use path is equipped with high-performance LED lighting. This helps ensure that pedestrians and cyclists are clearly visible to drivers, creating a safer environment for all.

  • Future Overlook: A future overlook is planned for the south side of the bridge, offering a scenic view of the Seekonk River. This will provide a great spot for taking in the view and adds an extra element of interest for users of the path.
