Update on the Washington Bridge 🏗️

RIDOT no longer has a set timeline or cost estimate for the Washington Bridge reconstruction project. Officials announced a new two-step process to find contractors after the previous bidding failed. Construction of the westbound span is now expected to begin around December 2025. Demolition of the bridge has resumed after a pause, with disruptive work delayed until Sunday. RIDOT has scheduled a second community meeting for residents after criticism of last week's virtual meeting. Governor McKee and RIDOT Director Peter Alviti will address questions directly.

🦈 Fun News For Truck & Van Drivers

The new shark license plate is the fastest-selling charity plate in RI history. For the DMV to print charity plates, they need to receive at least 600 orders. The shark plate hit 600 orders for passenger and combination vehicles in no time, and recently they’ve hit the 600 mark for commercial plates as well. Vehicles that qualify for commercial plates are pickup trucks, heavy trucks, and cargo vans. If you ordered a shark plate for your commercial vehicle you can pick it up this Saturday between 9-12 at the DMV in Cranston. The shark has yet to hit 600 orders for motorcycles but so far hundreds have been ordered. These plates are $42.50, $20 of which goes to the Atlantic Shark Institute to fund their research. PVD’s Most Expensive Home on the Market 🏡

Source: Compass

Many people liked the part about the most expensive condo in the last issue, so I’ll continue highlighting interesting and impressive homes around Providence. Today's featured house, listed yesterday for $3,495,000, ties with another home as the most expensive home currently on the market. The J. Henry Thorpe House is a Georgian Revival brick home from 1935. The home was recently renovated, keeping its aesthetic while making needed infrastructure upgrades. It’s set back from the street behind a stone wall, with rear gardens bordering the Blackstone Park Conservation District. The fully fenced property spans over half an acre, featuring landscaped gardens and a koi pond. Yea - a koi pond! You can view all the images of the home here.
