✈️ Big Upgrades Coming to T.F. Green

T.F. Green Airport will undergo major upgrades funded by a $10 million federal grant from the FAA. Announced by U.S. Senators Reed and Whitehouse and Congressmen Magaziner and Amo, the renovations aim to improve operational efficiency, modernize terminal infrastructure, and enhance passenger comfort. Key improvements include expanded seating, enhanced ADA accessibility, energy-efficient systems, and updates to common areas reflecting local architecture. This investment supports increased passenger demand and positions the airport as a welcoming gateway to Rhode Island, benefiting tourism, local businesses, and the state’s economy.

Helado Taiyaki to Remain Open Under New Ownership 🍦 

Helado Taiyaki, a Providence ice cream shop that was set to close, will remain open under new ownership. Located on Dean Street near Federal Hill, the shop announced its closure in August but will now continue under the leadership of Valentina De La Cerda Cordon, a former team member, and her family. Former owner Linnette Lopez Torres shared her excitement, noting the family’s dedication and their addition of a morning café for the community (I’ll be sure to try it out for a Friday highlight). Lopez Torres believes the new ownership will be meaningful to loyal customers.

Eastside Marketplace Closes on Halloween 🎃 

Eastside Marketplace will be closing this Thursday, October 31st, at 3 PM. The closest Stop & Shop to Eastside Marketplace is the one on Pawtucket Ave in East Providence which is 8 minutes away from Eastside Marketplace. Trader Joe’s and Whole Foods are also options nearby. Right now, the whole store is 15% off as they clear the shelves. Although there hasn’t been anything confirmed, it seems like Dave’s has the possibility to replace Eastside Marketplace after some work is done in the building.
