This is the first time I’m including a mini crossword. It was tough to create so please let me know if you’d like me to continue. Monday has trivia, and Friday has wordle so I figured Wednesday needed something!

Currents & Waves
🛒 Stop & Shop: Lowering Prices & No More Bag Fees
Yesterday, Stop & Shop announced that it was going to lower prices and eliminate the 10-cent bag fee at all 25 of its RI locations. The prices should all currently be in effect. Jennifer Barr, a Stop & Shop spokesperson said “We are thrilled to announce that we have lowered thousands of everyday prices and these are key staples that our customers buy week after week like yogurt, shredded cheese, avocados, and strawberries.” The new prices will affect over 3,500 items in stores. Stop & Shop also said they are going to keep remodeling their RI locations similar to their updated Richmond location.
Event: Taste of Rhode Island 🍰 🌮 🍣
Today from 6-9 pm at the Crowne Plaza in Warwick is the 2024 Taste of Rhode Island Event. This event is filled with signature dishes from local restaurants, hidden foodie spots across Rhode Island, and wine, beer, and spirits. The event features live music, fun photo booths, raffle prizes at the Charity Pavilion, and supports the MAE Organization for the Homeless. The event also showcases live music from the popular cover band, Dr. Slick. It's suitable for all ages, but ID is required for alcohol, and strollers are not allowed. New Restaurant Coming to Wayland Square 🌮
One of the few Wayland Square restaurants that closed this year was Minerva’s, on Angell St. Moving into Minerva’s old location is Maiz, a Mexican restaurant with a location in South Kingstown. Maiz serves tacos, burritos, soups and more Mexican cuisine. On their Instagram, Maiz said renovations have begun and they are hoping to be open by the end of the year.

🚀 Senator Reed Talks RI Manufacturing Growth
Senator Jack Reed celebrated the growth of Rhode Island’s manufacturing sector in a roundtable with local businesses, discussing successes and ways to further support them. Highlighting the innovation and job creation in the industry, Reed emphasized the importance of federal programs to help manufacturers thrive. With over 1,600 manufacturing companies employing 8.5% of the state’s workforce and driving the state’s economy, Reed is committed to supporting workforce development, increasing wages, and ensuring continued growth. Local manufacturers shared their experiences, and Reed pledged to bring their insights to Washington to strengthen the state's manufacturing ecosystem.
