PVD Current's Cafe List

Our hub for all of our cafe reviews and info for our members

Hey there! Thank you for becoming a member. Now let’s waste no time. Here is our list of all our favorite cafes in Providence. In NO particular order.

This list is ever-expanding and is updated weekly at a minimum! Bookmark it and check back from time to time.

1. LaSalle Bakery

LaSalle Bakery is a great spot to check out. They have plenty of parking either on the street or in their lot. Inside they have a ton of treats and food to choose from for breakfast, lunch, or whenever. The croissant was very large and very good, and so was the mocha. It seems like their iced drinks are one size, so maybe it’s unfair of me to call it a small. I’ve already been back since I went for the review. I definitely recommend stopping in to see what they have to offer.

2. Coffee Exchange

As someone who enjoys strong coffee, I liked this mocha. It was pretty sweet but had an almost earthy aftertaste. The croissant was great as well. It wasn’t like some of the croissants you get that are cold with two bars of chocolate going through the middle. I also enjoy the atmosphere of Coffee Exchange. It can get busy, but other than that it’s very relaxing to hang around, and a good spot to do some work from your laptop.

Overall, I can confidently recommend Coffee Exchange, regardless of if you like strong or sweet coffee.

3. Coffee Connection

Coffee Connection in Providence is tucked away downtown off of Weybosset Street. I really like the building and the area it’s in, but it can be a bit annoying to find parking. I’d suggest going at a quiet time or being okay with walking a bit.

The croissant was very sweet, enough that I had to cut it and only eat half. I definitely enjoyed the coffee (which I get frequently from their Smithfield location). The price seems fair compared to other spots I’ve tried.

I recommend checking Coffee Connection out, and maybe pairing it with something like the Providence Flea, because they aren’t far apart (10-minute walk).

4. Rise 'n Shine Coffee Bar

I’ve seen this place on social media a lot recently so decided I should try it out. I really liked the inside and they even have some seating in the back garden which is very nice. The croissant was really good and the coffee was good. For the price, I think I could go find a great coffee elsewhere. They have a bunch of other drinks so I would still recommend trying a croissant and seeing what else is on their menu.

5. Madrid European Bakery

I’ll start by saying out of all the chocolate croissants I have tried so far for these reviews, Madrid definitely has the best one. As you can tell from the melted chocolate chips in the picture, it comes warm and has just the right amount of chocolate that it isn’t too sweet you need to save half for later. The mocha was a bit milkier than I normally like at first, but it was pretty good once I mixed it all together. Parking on Wayland is annoying so I’d recommend going early in the morning or parking and walking over. There’s a lot of indoor and outdoor seating and a wide variety of other pastries.
