On November 5, 2024, Providence voters will play a vital role in electing members to the new hybrid-model school board. This upcoming election marks a significant shift in how the city’s educational policies will be guided, with the school board now featuring a blend of five appointed members and five elected representatives, each from one of Providence’s five established school board regions.
Approved in 2022 by a majority of Providence voters, this hybrid model is designed to foster stronger community representation and direct engagement with school district needs. The five elected members will serve in non-partisan positions, chosen every four years, representing the interests of families, educators, and students across the city’s neighborhoods.
To help voters make an informed decision, the city has published a comprehensive candidate guide, which includes profiles and responses from each candidate. Simply click on your school board region to access details on each candidate’s background and priorities. Make your voice count this Election Day to help shape Providence’s educational future!
