🦃 Thanksgiving Alphabet Soup Game 🥣

This is a new game I’m trying out. Here’s how you play:

  1. There will be a given category, today’s is Thanksgiving.

  2. The goal is to guess a word (or two) that fits in the category for every letter of the alphabet.

  3. Here’s an example for “A”: America, or Apple pie. Both start with “A” and both fit the Thanksgiving category

  4. You have unlimited guesses, and each letter has around 10+ words to choose from

Reply to this email with suggestions for new games or if you want to keep crosswords!

Boosting Futures Through Soccer ⚽

Source: Senator Jack Reed

U.S. Senator Jack Reed visited Project GOAL, an after-school program that combines academic tutoring, mentoring, and soccer training for elementary and middle school students. At Alfred Lima Elementary School, he announced a $146,000 federal grant to help expand the program. Project GOAL offers students 90 minutes of tutoring and 90 minutes of soccer training twice a week, focusing on teamwork, leadership, and life skills. The program has a strong track record, with 96% of participants graduating high school and 90% pursuing college. The new funding will allow 30 more students to join, improve technology and resources, and cover costs like transportation and supplies. Senator Reed praised the program’s impact on Rhode Island youth, saying it builds character and creates opportunities on and off the soccer field.

🍕 Thanksgiving Pizzas on Wickenden

Source: Pizza Marvin

There’s no shortage of festive pizza in Providence this Thanksgiving season! Fellini’s Pizzeria is famous for its Thanksgiving Pizza, topped with mashed potatoes, turkey, stuffing, and gravy, but it’s already sold out for the year—pre-orders filled up fast. If you missed out, don’t fret! Pizza Marvin in Fox Point has a holiday-themed “Green Bean Casserole” pizza with green beans, mushrooms, mozzarella, and crispy onions, plus a Thanksgiving-inspired “Stuff Stiz” and sweet potato ice cream. Both are a fun and delicious way to celebrate the season with a twist on traditional flavors!

🎄 Free Holiday Parking in Providence

Mayor Brett P. Smiley and Councilor Oscar Vargas announced two exciting parking initiatives in Providence. Starting December 2, 2024, free 30-minute parking will be available outside City Hall, making it easier for residents to access city services. Additionally, from November 30, 2024, through January 1, 2025, Providence will offer complimentary two-hour parking in key shopping areas to support local businesses during the holiday season. This initiative includes neighborhoods like Downtown, Federal Hill, and College Hill, where shoppers can park for free while supporting Providence's vibrant small business community.
