🐝 Brown Bee Coffee Opening This Week

Chances are, if you’ve been down Benefit St. in the past year or so you’ve seen a building on the corner of Transit St. under construction. This building is Brown Bee Coffee, a local coffee shop that is going to offer its own custom roast fair-trade coffee, both freshly roasted and in bean form. They are also going to be offering baked goods including loaves of bread and croissants. Earlier this week Brown Bee held their soft opening, and according to their Instagram, they are set to officially launch soon. You can follow their Instagram to stay informed on when they plan to launch. Check it out here.

Alan Shawn Feinstein Passes Away at 93

Due to the frequency of this email, I’m sure you’ve already heard the news that Alan Shawn Feinstein passed away on Saturday. Here is a brief history of his philanthropy and positive impact.

Alan Shawn Feinstein founded the Feinstein Foundation in 1991, focusing on community service and fighting hunger. His school program has recognized over 600,000 children as Feinstein Junior Scholars for their commitment to doing good deeds. One of his major initiatives, the "Feinstein Challenge," encourages local organizations to raise funds for hunger relief, with his foundation matching a portion of the contributions. Since its launch in 1997, the campaign has raised over $2.5 billion to support anti-hunger efforts.

As a kid, I remember using his Jr. Scholar Card which allowed free or discounted access to a bunch of fun attractions around RI.

Federal Hill Restaurant Closures

Two restaurants on Atwells Avenue have recently closed. The first is Federal TapHouse, a well-known steakhouse. Their website now redirects to Providence Burger Bar. It is expected that the space Federal TapHouse is in will be rented out to a new tenant soon.

The second restaurant that’s closed is Saint. Saint offered a mix of Italian and American food. Saint’s plans are different from those of Federal TapHouse. Saint is undergoing a rebrand and changing the restaurant’s look and feel before reopening, in 4-6 months.
